PRESENTING
OURSELVES ONLINE
Have You Thought About What You Put Online?
In today’s digital world, the way we present ourselves
online can have a real impact on our future, especially
when it comes to finding work in early years or
education. Social media, messaging apps, and other
online platforms make it easy to share our thoughts,
photos, and opinions. But once something is online, it
can be hard to control who sees it, and this can affect
how employers see us too.

Check your privacy settings. Make sure only people
you trust can see what you share.
Google yourself. See what comes up when you

your interests, volunteering, or professional
achievements.
Be respectful. Remember that comments you leave
on other people’s posts can be seen too.

searches may be part of their safer recruitment checks.
This means employers can legally look up your social
media accounts or anything else that comes up in a
basic internet search to help decide if you are suitable to
work with children.
Your online presence is part of your personal brand.
