HOW SHOWCASE CAN SUPPORT YOU
Reasonable adjustments are changes made to teaching, learning or assessment that remove barriers for learners with
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). They allow learners to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and
behaviours without changing the apprenticeship standards or assessment requirements.
Teaching and Learning
Assistive Technology
Inclusive teaching is part of our everyday practice. We
use clear instructions, manageable learning steps,
visual resources, and accessible learning materials to
support different learning needs. Flexible delivery,
regular tutor check-ins and a supportive learning
environment can also help learners feel confident and
engaged.
Technology can help remove barriers and give learners
greater independence. Where appropriate, we can
support the use of tools such as screen readers,
speech recognition, mind-mapping tools, digital
planners, and spell-check software where permitted.
Noise-cancelling headphones may also help learners
maintain focus during independent study.
Functional Skills
We recognise that some learners
may need additional support with
English and maths. This can
include practical teaching
approaches, additional support
sessions, visual resources,
coloured overlays, or assistive
technology such as text-tospeech and speech-to-text
software. Our aim is to provide
learners with the support they
need to develop their skills and
make progress.
Wellbeing Support
End-Point Assessment
Regular wellbeing check-ins, open
communication, and a flexible
approach can make a real
difference to learner success. By
creating a safe and supportive
environment, we encourage
learners to talk about any
concerns or support needs early,
allowing us to provide the right
help and keep them engaged with
their learning.
Some learners may require
reasonable adjustments during
their End-Point Assessment (EPA).
Depending on individual needs
and approval from the End-Point
Assessment Organisation (EPAO),
these may include extra time,
supervised rest breaks, assistive
technology, modified assessment
materials, or a reader or scribe
where permitted.
