DAY
MONEY
Challenge
To help you feel more in control of your
money, why not give this 7 day challenge
a go. You don't need a complicated
budget or hours of paperwork.
Just spend a few minutes each day
looking at where your money goes and
making one small change.
Day 1: Check your balance
Start by finding out exactly how much money you have available. Don't worry
if it's less than you hoped, this is about understanding your finances, not
judging them.
Day 2: Know your bills
Make a list of your regular payments, such as rent, energy, phone,
insurance and subscriptions. Knowing what needs to be paid each month
can help you plan ahead.
Day 3: Find your subscriptions
Take a look at your bank statement and check for subscriptions you no
longer use. That forgotten streaming service or app could be costing you
money every month.
Day 4: Have a no spend day
Try going one day without spending any money on non-essential items.
Use what you already have at home, take your own lunch and enjoy a
free activity.
Day 5: Compare before you buy
Before making a purchase, see if you can find it cheaper elsewhere.
Comparing prices, choosing supermarket own brands or buying secondhand could help your money go further.
Day 6: Save something
Put a small amount into a savings pot. It could be £1, £5 or £10
whatever feels realistic for you. The important thing is getting into the
habit of saving.
Day 7: Look back and plan ahead
Think about what you have discovered during the week. Have you found
any unnecessary spending? Could you save a little more? Choose one
change you can continue next week.
