In this section of the magazine, you are able to send in your questions and queries
regarding your apprenticeship (for example End Point Assessment, Functional Skills, or Offthe-Job). Nothing is off-limits and no question is a silly question, so if you are unsure about
anything please let us know by sending in your question to hello@showcasetraining.co.uk.
What is changing with the
incentive?
From October 2026, the
employer incentive is
increasing from £1,000 to
£2,000 for eligible
apprenticeship starts. This
gives employers an even
greater opportunity to
benefit from recruiting and
developing apprentices
within their setting.
Why has the government
introduced the incentive?
The incentive is designed to
encourage more employers
to recruit young people as
apprentices, helping them
gain valuable skills,
qualifications and workplace
experience while supporting
employers to develop new
talent.
Do levy-paying employers need to pay the
employer contribution?
Levy-paying employers use their Growth
and Skills Levy funds to pay for
apprenticeship training and assessment.
Who can receive the
employer incentive?
Eligible employers who
recruit an apprentice aged
16–24 may be able to
receive the incentive,
subject to the government’s
eligibility criteria and
funding rules.
Do non-levy employers need to pay the
employer contribution?
For eligible apprentices aged 16–24, training
and assessment costs can be fully funded by
the government, meaning there is no employer
contribution towards these costs. Where a
contribution is required, such as for learners
aged 25 and over, non-levy employers typically
contribute 5%, with the government funding the
remaining 95%, up to the relevant funding limit.
