A Day in the Life of an Early
Years Practitioner
Emily shows us a DITL as a nursery apprentice and shares
some top tips for great work-life balance!
I start my day off walking to work - I
love the country lanes and it’s a great
opportunity to stretch my legs and
clear my mind ready for a busy day. I
have an early start (7:30am!) so this
wakes me up ready to go. It’s only a 20
minute walk, but I love getting a bit of
physical activity in first thing. Healthy
body, healthy mind!
It was my boyfriend and my 3month anniversary so we
grabbed a coffee after work love this place in town! We’ve
been friends since school and
started dating when we left.
In my nursery, my room
leader Amy and I work in the
2-3s with other apprentices
setting up lots of activities
and fun throughout the day.
Little Stars are great at
providing a budget for each
room so we can buy lots of
resources like games and
items for Tuff Trays. I love
getting ideas from Pinterest
for Tuff Trays and supporting
the children to explore
sensory and motor skills.
After work, I love to head
to the gym. Gym 247 has
24-hour access which
helps me to work it into my
daily routine! I head there
straight after work as I can
also use the showers there.
I go 3 times a week which
helps me routinely stay
active and healthy, both
physically and mentally.
Look at this cool bus
outside the coffee
place! Grabbed this and
headed home ready for
some dinner.
Thank you for spending
the day with me!
