In this section of the magazine, you are able to send in your questions and queries
regarding your apprenticeship (for example End Point Assessment, Functional Skills, or Offthe-Job). Nothing is off-limits and no question is a silly question, so if you are unsure about
anything please let us know by sending in your question to hello@showcasetraining.co.uk.
How do I manage my
apprenticeship workload
alongside a busy job role?
We completely understand that
it can be difficult to balance
study and day-to-day
responsibilities in your nursery;
that is why organisation and
time-management is key! Try
and stick to a weekly schedule
for apprenticeship work, and
plan your week in advance. Be
open and honest with your
employer and tutor if you are
struggling.
Can I complete
apprenticeship work outside
of my normal working hours?
What should I do if my
employer doesn’t give me
enough time to complete
coursework?
Having time out to complete
coursework is a requirement of
the apprenticeship. If your
employer is not giving you
enough time out, they are not
meeting their responsibility on
the apprenticeship. Please let
us know by contacting us by
email or phone, or by speaking
to your tutor.
You absoutely can if you would
like to, but this is not expected
of you. You should have 6
hours for off-the-job training
per week and any time that
you spend doing your
cousework should be paid by
employer. That being said, if
you want to do some work at
home to get ahead or finish
the course quicker, that is not
a problem!
I am worried about having a new tutor
Can I take a break or pause my
apprenticeship if needed?
Yes! If you need to take a break from your
apprenticeship for whatever reason, you are
able to take something called a 8break-inlearning9. This is where you are able to pause
your course and return back to where you left
as soon as you are ready. Please let your tutor
know if you would like to take a break-inlearning.
That is completely normal! After building a bond
with your tutor, you may feel worried or
apprehensive about transferring to a new one.
However, please be reasurred that all of our
tutors are very supportive and friendly! Your new
tutor will get to know you and make you feel at
ease straight away!
