PERSONAL
DEVELOPMENT
Fantastic Fundraising
Winter is the perfect time to bring warmth not just to the
classroom, but to your wider community too. As early
years professionals, we have a unique opportunity to
teach children about kindness, empathy, and giving back,
all while developing our own character and strengthening
community bonds.
Ideas to Try:
Host a Festive Craft Fair
Benefits of Charity Fundraising
Builds Community Spirit: Charity fundraising fosters
a sense of connection and strengthens relationships
within your local community.
Engage children and parents by hosting a winterthemed craft fair. Handmade decorations, cards, and
gifts can be sold to raise money for charity. Children
learn creativity and sharing, whilst everyone gets to
be part of a larger community effort to contribute to
a meaningful cause.
Teaches Empathy and Compassion: For early years
professionals, fundraising is a hands-on way to
model kindness. Involving children helps them
understand others’ needs, develop empathy, and
value helping those less fortunate.
Organise a Sponsored Winter Walk
Develops Character and Leadership: Organising
fundraising events encourages planning, problemsolving, and leadership skills.
Plan a short, family-friendly walk in your local area,
encouraging participants to collect sponsorship for
every mile they walk. This can also double as a
nature learning opportunity, whilst encouraging
physical activity for health and wellbeing, and
reinforcing teamwork and perseverance.
